President Bush Discusses Strong Economic Growth and Job Creation (and he does!)

The Rose Garden

10:45 A.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT: Thanks to good, old-fashioned American hard work and productivity, innovation, and sound economic policies of cutting taxes and restraining spending, our economy continues to gain strength and momentum. I'd also like to thank the statistmaticans out there, who threw these numbers together. And I don't want to forget the people who keep this nice garden looking nice. We're a nice garden administration. he he

Our economy added 215,000 low-paying jobs for the month of November. We've added nearly 4.5 million new jobs in the last two-and-a-half years - nearly as many people as there are without health insurance. And I'm NOT counting how many jobs we've lost! Any I'm not fingering in lower wages and all that economic mumbo bumble. This is VOODOO ECONOMICS, see. he he Voodoo...like what they do in New Orleans. We're is a voodoo economics, New Orleans-loving administration.) Third-quarter growth of this year was 4.3 percent. That's in spite of the fact that we had hurricanes - a lot of hurricanes; and a tsunami and a couple of wars and high gasoline prices. Why did we have high gasoline prices? Seems to me the oil companies.... Must have been a dream. The unemployment rate is 5 percent, excluding those persons whose benefits have expirated. We don't keep math on that. And that's lower than the average for the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Overall, during my presidency, this represents the slowest economic growth in 5 decades! We're a slow-economic growth administration! he he
We have every reason to be optimistic about our economic future. he he I mean, when you think about the news that's come in, the jobs report, the recent report on strong economic growth, low inflation, strong productivity, lowering gasoline prices, a strong housing market, increases in consumer confidence and business investment, our economic horizon is as bright as it's been in a long time. History will record that I, George W. Bush, spake these words unto you. And you delivered the words to the people! And the people were happy - just in time for Christmas. And the people went out and shopped! Voooooooooo....doo.... voo...doooooooo. Say it with me: vooooooooooooo...dooooooooo...he he he he.

The foundation for growth is strong. It's based upon low taxes and restrained government spending, legal reform, incentives for saving and investment. Yes! I said "restrained government spending! I got balls! We're a ballsy administration.

The small business sector is vibrant. Most new jobs in America are created by the small business sector, and our entrepreneurs are doing well. We got the best work force in America -- in the world. Just not the cheapest. That's in Cambodia or somewhere in one of those Orientals countries. Ask Wal-Mart. They know where the cheap labor is. But we're working on it, too. We believe in cheap labor. We're a cheap labor administration. People are productive, they're hardworking. Our ingenuity and know-how vibrant. Personally, I'm short on know-how, but that's irreverent. This economy is in good shape.

We're not going to rest until every American and Mexican who wants a job can find one. We're going to continue to work for good policies for our workers and our entrepreneurs. I'll continue to push for pro-growth economic policies, all aimed at making sure every American can realize the American Dream. Because we're dream-makers here. We're a dream-making administration. he he he he

Thank you very much. (He, he, he, he, he... C'mon, Dick, let's get outta here before they start in with their dumb ass questions.)

This could work!
